Little Venice

One of the joys of living in London is that you get the chance to explore the areas of the city that are less exposed to tourists, and still incredibly worth while. I decided to visit Little Venice with a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago, and this area is so charming and lovely.  As the name suggests, little Venice is an area of London that is interspersed with waterways. Although it honestly doesn’t look that much like Italy, it might be one of the coolest part of London. Located near Paddington station, the area is filled with charming little restaurants and pubs that are incredibly laid back and friendly.

This part of London is perfect for a nice stroll by the river wit a great friend. I guarantee it! And the boats reminds me of Johnny Depp’s character in the movie chocolat. The river Rats 🙂

Theatre review – Noises Off

A few weeks ago I had the chance to watch the new production of “Noises Off” on the west end. One of the perks of being friends with a drama student is being dragged along to various theatre performances 🙂

Noises off is an absolutely hilarious comedy that plays on the concept of a play within a play. The audience is whiteness to both the dress rehearsal and the chaotic circumstances that occur backstage while the  play is being performed. We were lucky enough to sit in the front row, and I can honestly say that I laughed for 2 hours straight..

Noises Off is currently playing at the Old Vic theatre in London. If you want a light, entertaining night in the theatre, Noises Off is a wonderful choice.

Experience London – Barnes

Barnes is a small part of southwest London, and only  10 minutes away from my campus. My friend Marie and I decided to go explore this area the other day, and found out that is it really charming! You can find lots of sweet little cafes and shops, we even found an old church 🙂

There are so many lovely streets in Barnes, and the dream would be to find a house there to rent next year!

Covent Garden

A visit to Covent Garden should be on every tourist’s visiting agenda. This area offers a wide range of restaurants, stores and hotels. It is close to the Royal Opera House, as well as many other theaters. The central piazza is constantly buzzing with street performers and musicians, creating the perfect inner city atmosphere.

One of the highlights of visiting Covent Garden is the famous parisian tea salon Laduree. The best macaroons in London can be found here!

A Foggy Day in London Town

A foggy day in London Town,
Had me low, had me down
I viewed the morning with such alarm,
British museum had lost its charm

How long, I wonder, could this thing last?
But the age of miracles hadn’t past,
For suddenly i saw you there
And through foggy London town the sun was shining everywhere

This sunday has been one of those days when you don’t feeling like doing anything but stay under the covers for hours. When I woke up this morning a thick fog was covering everything in sight. I actually like this kind of weather, because it gives you the perfect excuse to have a quiet day and order chinese food with a great friend:) I hope everyone had a wonderful sunday.

The Wizard of Oz

When my parents came to visit me a couple of weeks ago, we decided to go see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz the musical, at the Palladium theatre. This musical is starring Danielle Hope as Dorothy and Michael Crawford (the original phantom in Phantom of the Opera) as the wizard. Danielle got the part of Dorothy through the popular BBC reality show entitled “Over the Rainbow”. This musical was absolutely fantastic! At first, I was worried that this musical was best suited for children, but I think its a wonderful, uplifting production, suitable for all ages. I will probably go see this musical again! If you are planning on going to London anytime soon, I highly recommend that you see it. I will definitely keep blogging about the musicals I see in London, but I’m a huge musical geek, so I’ll probably say that they’re all fantastic:)
