What I do on a rainy monday

Today I brought my enormous pile of books to a cafe that I love, met up with my precious friends and ended the night at the movie theatre. A day filled wit my favorite things, in my favorite city. I don’t think I have realized just how pretty Oslo is in the rain before.

Sunday Morning

I’m just popping by to say a quick hello before I leave to spend the day at some friends house. It’s a beautiful morning in Olso today, I can actually see the sun! That doesn’t happen too often this summer. But still, I’m not complaining, because I just received the books from my entire autumn reading list for english literature. I’ll most likely spend the rest of the summer vacation buried in books such s Peter and Wendy, The Chronicles of Narnia and Treasure Island. I’m so exited to get started! I guess there is no doubt that I chose the right subject to study when I literally  can’t wait to embark upon the 25 novels I have to read before the semester starts…

Happy sunday everyone, have a good one.

Place de L’etang

Greetings from Cucuron, a small countryside village in Provence. We are spending the days eating amazing french food, drinking whine, sunbathing, shopping at the local markets, swimming and discovering the charming little villages around the south of France. Down the street from our house is the charming Place de L’etang. Beautiful!

Singing in the Rain

A clip from one of my favorite movies, that never fail to put a smile on my face. I’m dying to go see Singing in the Rain on the West End when I move back to London in September! This production is currently at the Palace Theatre, near Leicester Square. If you have the chance to go see this, you should! It looks like a wonderful new stage musical.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuic

I am back in cold, windy Norway after a week of enjoying the sun in beautiful Barcelona. It was my first time in Spain, and I think we managed to squeeze as many tourist attractions as we could into seven days!  My friend who I travelled with had never been to Barcelona either, so we wanted to see and experience as much as possible. I have a lot of great pictures to share with you, so stay tuned.. One of the highlights of the trip was the beautiful magic fountain of Montjuic. Designed by Charles Buigas, it was built for the Universal Exhibition in 1929. With spectacular light shows and music, this is one of the things you simply cannot miss if you’re ever in Barcelona.

Farmers Market in Oslo

My saturday was spent in Oslo, to finally watch The Avengers (superhero obsession alert) and a surprise visit to the farmers market. Luckily the weather was on our side, and we ended up spending some of the early afternoon walking around the market. It’s one of my favorite things to do in Oslo during the summer. The farmers market in Oslo is in a part of the city called Birkelunden, and it’s such a charming area. I’d love to live there one day, maybe after my bachelor degree is finished and I move back home 🙂 Anyway, here are some pictures that I though I’d share with you.

6 Things That Make Me Smile

1. My sister’s paintings

For as long as I can remember, my 12 year old little sister has been either painting, drawing or sketching. She is definitely the artist in the family, and I get so happy every time she shows me something new. She painted this picture a couple of days ago, and I though I would share it with you.

2. Street Musicians

In my opinion, street musician can change the entire atmosphere of a city. I love how a talented street musician can complete the feel of a certain street or square. And the variety is incredible, everything from classical music to blues and jazz. You never know what you’ll get! The amount of talented musicians out there never fails to impress me.

3. Stained Glass Windows

It should be mentioned that I love the atmosphere and calmness of especially catholic churches. The stained glass windows, and how the sunshine looks when coming in through them is incredibly beautiful and serene. It reminds me of choir and sunday school from when I was little 🙂

4. The Sunset

My house in Norway has one of the most beautiful views imaginable, doesn’t it?

5. Beautiful Gardens

A  lush green lung in an otherwise busy city is in my opinion completely irreplaceable. Having a place to explore, socialize and just relax in beautiful surroundings is a wonderful thing. This picture is from Hyde Park, a place where there is always something left to discover! My university is fairly close to Richmond Park, which is also beautiful!

6. Vacation Planning

I’m currently planning a vacation to Barcelona with a friend of mine. Several things are on the to-do list, including La Sagrada Familia, La Rambla and the magic fountain of Montjuic. Suggestions for tourist attractions are welcome! I love the feeling of having something to look forward to 🙂
